We are seeking Volunteer campaigners who shall embarked on the 2023 Trek4Girl Child expedition of climbing Africa’s highest mountain – Mount Kilimanjaro – to create awareness about the challenges facing impoverished girls in rural and poor schools during their monthly cycles. The funds raise shall enable  ICC Kenya Project to support Girl Child in school.

Research has shown that there is a  problem that affects school girls and even women at all stages of life. In poor communities, varsity students, mothers, working women and elderly ladies are also unable to afford sanitary hygiene products, which makes this cause all the more important.  The lack of affordable sanitary products for girls and women keeps them at a disadvantage in terms of education when they are young and prevents their mobility and productivity as women

Menstruation, despite its far-reaching impacts on education and health for girls, is a taboo topic. Just the word, even when spoken in hushed tones, is treated with shame. There is a cloud of stigma around our cycles, where as women we are made to feel ashamed because of something biological. By raising awareness around the issue, we aim to not only procure sanitary for young girls but we also hope to empower and restore confidence.

The Trek4Girls Campaign Expedition is taking place in 5th -15rd August  2023 . The volunteer participants shall climb Mount Kilimanjaro (the tallest mountain in Africa) in support of ISLANDERS KENYA an initiative that supports girls with sanitary towels, puberty and adolescent education in Kenya.

Other requirements

Each campaigners to be able to raise at least $2500 prior to the event (you can pay directly if you can afford this or conduct online fundraising. The 25% of fee shall take care of your registration, airport pick and drop up, Accommodation and food during the campaign period, Safari tour tax fee visiting Amboseli National Parks and other tourist sites like Naivasha, Nakuru and Riftvalley in Kenya and 75% shall take be used in supporting the girl project.
 

2. Application deadline is 15th July 2023. All Campaigners to arrive on 3rd August 2023 at  ICC Kenya, Mbita Town  for orientation.
3. Apart from being in camping team, having the following one of skills shall be an add advantage;- Driving, Mechanics, Nurse, First Aid skills, Social Marking skills, Media communication, web development, fundraising skills.

Also, the following shall be added advantage

Accommodation

Volunteers live in a home stay program while here in a shared rooms. For those who are funs of tents, will also go for that option. While on the expedition, volunteers will be on tents.   Volunteers are given a chance to experience a very authentic African lifestyle in all aspects.  It is a great chance for you to be a part of a different culture and to learn about how others live their lives. Volunteers shall be given an access to their own room, access to electricity as well as water.

Food Stipend

Meals are prepared locally and volunteers are given an opportunity also to learn how to cook food as well cooking their home food and share with the host. Volunteers shall get a three-day meals. While on the Expedition/Safari, the participants shall have an opportunity to taste their home food if available along the way where the team shall go through.
